The Aluminum-Silicon Alloy forms a binary phase in 11.7% Silicon with a melting temperature of 577°C. There are no intermetallic substances. There are no intermetallic compounds. Sodium can be added to the solution in small amounts. This will improve the eutectic as well as increase its strength. It also helps with the hardening process. Even small amounts can greatly reduce toughness. Manganese, however, can be added to decrease this effect.
