How Niobium Boride NiB2 Powder Is it Produced?
NbB2 could be created by the stoichiometric reacting of components elements. This reaction allows for precise stoichiometric controls of materials. Also, metallothermic reduce can also be done to reduce Nb2O5 (or NbO2) into niobium disboride. The reaction is described in the next section.
Nb2O5 + 2 B2O3 + 11 Mg → 2 NbB2 + 11 MgO
The reactant is Mg to permit acid leaching. Stoichiometric excesses Mg/B2O3 may be required to consummate all of the available Niobium oxide.

Niobium Boride NibB2 Pulver
NbB2, an ultrahigh-temperature ceramic (UHTC), is a high-temperature material. With a melting-point of 3050° C, it has good thermal conductivity and electrical resistance. The ceramic’s thermal conductivity is very high and its electrical conductivity is excellent (resistivity 25.7 Ybcm; Cte 7.7Yb106°C1). It shares many of the same properties with titanium diboride.
It is common to heat press or spark plasma-sinter NbB2 pieces (mechanical pressure is applied on the heated powder). The part then gets machined. NbB2 has a high covalentity and is therefore difficult to melt. This sintering agent reacts with surface oxides and increases the sintering strength. However, NbB2’s mechanical properties will decrease in hot pressing sintering.
