The Melting Point of Potassium Permanganate

Posted on 2023-03-14 By admin

melting point of potassium permanganate

The melting point of potassium permanganate is a very important factor to consider when it comes to using this chemical. It is a strong oxidizing agent and will react with certain metals and combustible substances.

It is also a very good disinfectant, antiseptic and bleaching agent. It is a reagent used in many laboratories worldwide for a number of different applications.

Some of the most common uses for this chemical include:

1. Disinfectant & Deodorizer

Because of its oxidizing properties, potassium permanganate can be used as a natural disinfectant, and it will kill bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi, and parasites in an hour. It is also used in rural areas to remove iron and hydrogen sulfide from well water, a process that helps eliminate the rotten egg smell often found in drinking water.

2. Water Treatment & Removing Rust

Because it is a very strong oxidizing agent, potassium permanganate can be used to help remove rust from surfaces and pipes that are prone to corrosion. It will also aid in removing magnesium and iron from water, making it more healthy to drink.

3. Fire Starter & Survival Kit Add-ons

Because of its oxidizing power, it is also a very effective fire starter. It will also react with some combustible materials such as glycerine or antifreeze. It is best to use a small amount of the solution, and then wait for the reaction to happen before adding tinder or other items to the fire.
